Let me explain. I am mid-age guy with severe edema in my lower body. this is only 2 months old. I have no diabetes, normal blood chemistries,
Last year a car ran me over badly. Upon admission, I had heavy blood loss from internal bleeding & had a MASSIVE heart attack, from the NEUROGENIC & cardiac SHOCK to my nervous system
Prior, I lived with some blocked arteries. But cardiologists said I had very good COLLATERALS ARTERIES formed within me & they compensated a lot. I had no ankle edema, no angina, no chest pain, no blatant heart discomfort. I walked quite freely, carried things, managed well.
but since the Massive MI - I now have severe left ventricular dysfunction & also in right.side. I gasp & strain with every breath & effort. Cardiologists said they cannot remedy the dead heart muscle. I have no arrythmias. When you take lasix, how bad are toxic effects? I am scared of Lasix. It may not take the edema out after all. So tell me exactly what it did for you ??

A panting cat?
When my cat (7 months old) plays really hard he seems to be out of breath. I even caught him panting once or twice. I talked to my friend who is studying to be a vet tech, and she said this was never normal and is usually because the cat has congestive heart failure. I am going to take him to the vet monday... but I just wondered if there was anything else it could be. Can cats be asthmatic or have allergies? And if it is CHF, she said they treat it with Lasix. I am a nursing student, so I know how Lasix works, but I'm just wondering what kind of side effects he might have and what the monthly cost is going to be. Do cats with CHF live a normal life span? I will ask the vet about all this too, but I am really worried about him... I love him dearly and don't want him to be sick. Also, are there any special considerations I should be aware of? Like limiting play time, or special diet? He lives to play.... I would feel bad if I had to limit his play time. Thanks so much

Who has had "burning foot syndrome"?
I have been disabled by this condition. Seriously ! Brief history. It started in January of this year. I decided to start walking to help lose weight. I had poor shoes and was walking around the outer edges of Walmart (I live in a place where there are no inside malls for walking inside in cold wintry weather. Feet and ankles begin to swell. I bought very good running shoes and continued to walk. I finally went to my PCP and he has done several blood panels and "ruled out diabetes, liver, kidney, etc. causes. He gave me a fluid pill and the swelling started going down but after awhile I begin to develop a HORRIBLE (sorry but I am screaming out for any help) stinging, burning, extreme sensitive soles of feet to even the carpet, socks if worn for over an hour, etc. I now can not wear (I have tried all kind and all fits from internet sites) socks and running shoes or even sandles for any purposeful length of time. I am two hours from Austin, Texas and to go to a big city doctor (my preference) is an ordeal. I tried a local Podiatrist and she said it seemed like I had OK circulation in my feet. The swelling has gone down from the Lasix (fluid pills). She said it was probably neruopathic pain and gave me Lyrica to relieve the pain. Problem is one of the main side effects of Lyrica is (yu guessed it) swelling of the ankles and feet. So now a catch 22 was in effect. Taking a fluid pill to relieve swelling and a pain pill (only of little help) that caused swelling. What type of MD is my best source of help? Another Podiatrist, neurologist, rhmatologist, witch doctor, shaman, are one who will give me something to die in peace. (only half kidding). I have not done anything for fun since January but read and started playing this stupid Yahoo Answers. I have seen it as a game up until THIS QUESTION WHICH IF GETTING A GOOD ANSWER IS WORTH ME GIVING YOU ALL MY WORTHLESS POINTS PLUS THE 10. One more point and I will shutup. I am limited at time at computer because sitting for long periods with feet down on floor make the pain worse. Now this is a serious question and I am praying that there is someone in YahooAnswersLand that can help me in some way. Please do your best to avoid the little smart comments that always come with questioins. Serious and caring people only. If you have read this far you just may be one of those people. Thanks. My suicidal mind depends on it.
it has been two hours and I have had one person kind enough to try and help me with this really important question. Of course I have exhausted the internet sites. I am wanting a person who has had this syndrome and God or TheForce help me. I play the all knowing Professor on this game (my background info is for real. I do have the Ph.D etc. but this is a real horrible ordeal that is hard to explain to people. A word from someone to greet me in the morning with some news like "oh I had that and I did such and such or so the Whizard and it is cureable. I know I play the all knowing smart ass persona on this site (hell, this is a stupid game most of the time) but The Pof E don't know nutin' bout what next step to take or whether this thing with the feet is real. I choose not to live with it. Please take this serious. One gentlemen answered and I don't think the cared about some stupid worthless points.

Breeder's Cup officially going steroid free...first step?...or not strong enough!!?
This article came out today on Thoroughbred Times. It tells about how the Breeder's Cup Championships (this year at Santa Anita, California) will have steroid testing 2 weeks before the race, the day of the race and after the race. With (one year) suspensions given to trainers caught (along with forfiture of prize).
http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/national-news/2008/August/01/New-Breeders-Cup-policy-bans-steroids-in-all-affiliated-races.aspx
I think it was about time that the US got steroids banned just like most other racing countries. I see this as a wonderful opportunity to really see what these horses can due without a shot of something or a milkshake of something else. But that's my opinion...What do you think?
Also, Lasix wasn't mentioned so that isn't part of the ban. What do you all think...Is this a step in the right direction or should they just ban all raceday meds too?
*I know this started in California, but they added the part about not allowing any more Breeder's Cup qualifiers at any tracks that don't adopt the same policy. Think about it...there are 53 races all over the US and Canada that are qualifiers. So, this is going to affect more than just racing in California. I think it is A HUGE STEP in the right direction.
